Christmas boat parades are a time-honored traditional all over the country. This tradition is great family fun for all ages. Key Colony Beach holds theirs every year. This year the Holiday Lighted Boat Parade takes place Sunday December 8th. This is an event that is enjoyed by all residents of Key Colony Beach and their guests as they wait on their home docks for the parade to come down their canal.

The Key Colony Beach Boat Parade starts with a signal from the KCB Police boat. The procession of boats winds around the beginning stretch of the canal in two counter-clockwise circuits. This allows viewing by the Judges who are located at the City Hall Dock. Then the boats cruise up and down the canals usually finishing at the canal between 11th and 12th street.

For those who wish to share in the fun, but want to avoid boating home at night, dockage will be found. There are prizes give in several categories to the participants so this is a very competitive event. Participants go all out to try to win best in parade, best theme, most spirited etc. After the awards ceremony, Key Colony Inn is hosting a buffet that’s free for Captain and Crews, as well as a cash bar.

There is parking allowed up and down the Sadowski Causeway so the parade can be enjoyed by visitors as well as residents. Viewing is also easily done from the dock area behind the Post Office and City Hall. If you are going to be in town this date we highly recommend you go to see this spectacular event!

Organized by the Key Colony Beach Community Association. Anyone wishing more information or help should contact: Tucker De Graw at 305-743-7214 or Chick Lees at 305-743-5037.
