The Florida Keys Celtic Festival in Marathon is a two-day funfest celebrating Celtic heritage with live Celtic music (including pipes & drums), Celtic food, beer, unique Celtic crafts and products, and Highland Athletics competition! The festival is family friendly, including a Childrens Glen with activities. Some fun facts about the history of the celebration: Today’s modern Highland games, a celebration of Scottish and Celtic culture and heritage thoughout the world, have their roots in Scottish history. Their origin is believed to be a foot race created in the 11th century by King Malcolm III of Scotland to find the fastest runner in the land to be his royal messenger.

What are the Festival Events?

The events include many traditional as well as rock and pop musical performances, Celtic athletic competitions, and even a herding dog exhibition! According to the Marathon Chamber of Commerce, there’s a rumor that the Conchness Monster, a distant relative to Nessie, may make an appearance. 2015 attendance is expected top the 2014 numbers of 1700 visitors, half of which traveled from outside the Keys, so this should be a culturally rich community event!

Festival Proceeds Benefit Local Youth!

Festival proceeds benefit the Hammock House Youth Programs of St Columba Episcopal Church, which provide Marathon youth with a free, healthy environment to thrive emotionally, artistically, intellectually and spiritually. So, come share in the Celtic culture, fun, music and goodwill!
